  • Board members met at Edwards waterfront yesterday with our DG Kathy Rivett for a club health check - with the wisdom in the room - we acknowledged we are tracking well with many things and understand there are a few other areas to work on such as new member engagement, making sure information is easy for members to find, continuing our work on strategic planning, sharing information with our friends of Rotary, working with other district clubs to find solutions/ideas, finding out about more resources from Rotary international, learning more about our Environmental area and especially possible distant guest speakers.
  • Kathy acknowledged the challenges involved now working in community and rules/regulations that prevent some projects from being done.
  • Thanks to Erin and Kym for setting up the TV and managing the technology at the shed- this also went without a hitch.
  • Kathy mentioned that throughout the district other clubs have lost some of the gains made through COVID and stopped using their hybrid meeting gear. Our board have agreed to continue to use the hybrid gear and leave open our options.
  • Our board review of the  meeting format is due and we have asked Peter Gracias to build this survey and circulate this to members in the near future. Please complete this survey once circulated to have your say.
DG Kathy Rivett visits our club
A wonderful social club meeting last night with our DG Kathy Rivett at the Rotary shed at Yarraman Park. Visiting our club were DGE Ian McKay and online AG Peter Simons. The evening went without a hitch - a well organised meal thanks to Ian and Owen from IGA with many helpers in serving - thanks for pitching in.
Kathys message was an overview of her experiences in her personal life  of employment as a travel consultant, her insights with her own club starting up in Alfredton, as well as those insights of successful clubs through the district; challenging the membership to take opportunities to move with the times. This leads to relevance in their community and an ability to provide successful projects that mean something in todays challenging times.
Remember to tell others your story - what it is you do?

Ian Eldridge coordinated the fleet of helpers at the Kyeema Spring Fair- an overwhelming success.
Are you all going to come to the District conference next year? - Here are the dates to remember!

Our visiting District Govenor Elect Ian McKay.

Members addressing the club:

Ian Aldridge -

  • Kyeema spring fair was a great success. Over 400 sausages, 100 bugers, 50 steaks and 10kg of onions were cooked on the day. Plenty of helpers available thank you. The board have agreed for $1000 of the raised funds to be donated back to Kyeema at a later date.
  • Kyeema auction item - garden blitz- many jobs to complete -day needs to be rescheduled TBA.

Tony South - update from Kyeema spring fair - Over $36,000 raised throughout the day with a fabulous turnout for this community event.

Tammy Whitehead circulated a survey for attendance to our local world heritage listed site Budj Bim - while the walking area requires a level of ability and endurance over uneven ground for 2 hour duration, the Tae Rak cafe - can be enjoyed by all. Tentative day set for Sunday TBC, and options will be available for members to attend this as a club meeting.

A perfect day for a Fair - and the onions drew people in from the carpark!
Owen and Frank made sure there was plenty to go around.
As the day progressed the queues just got longer!
sayNO2familyviolence collaborative "Shark pitch"
A last minute inclusion to the evening was a presentation by Nicole Carr from United Way to the sayNO2familyviolence school collaboration project. Lee-Anne Nelson and John Pye - our SN2FV pitchers were available to accept the cheque for $28,611.00, although there are still a few pledges yet to be realised.
Thanks to Marg Wagner (from United Way) and Merle Menzel (Rotary club of Portland Bay) for being present to acknowledge the joint Rotary club project and also acceptance of the BIG cheque. AWA alliance supported United Way with a matching grant. A great achievement!
