Club assembly - facilitates a session of planning for the months ahead; checking whether our plans are proceeding as expected. Club assembly is also a time for providing information to the members about supports needed within the teams to help your teams succeed.
A University of Melbourne article noted a huge increase in job advertisements through SEEK, - 63% higher than pre-pandemic levels - and in the US, lack of employees has been termed - "the great resignation" where workers are leaving their jobs - making work and lifestyle changes. So too is volunteering in our community being affected in a similar way.
This is where club assembly is important to us as Rotarians, - we need to make the most of the time we have in club assembly to build our actions, evaluate what we are doing and to check outcomes/results to ensure the things we do are important to us and make a difference in our community. When you meet to discuss your plans- consider what is important to have on the plan - what provides value to our community, and what needs to be 'let go'. We cant do it all - but do want to be effective with what we do consider.
Next week is our Annual General meeting - It is going to be a special night where we celebrate our nominated members who will raise their hand to volunteer their time in an executive role. Preparations for these roles before the end of this year will make their time more successful. I urge members who want to sit back and 'leave it to someone else' to consider- who that might be, and whether they are already taking on the lions share of jobs within the club. Every little bit helps.
In February next year and in preparation for the years with Peter Taylor as president, we will be working on strategic planning - having conversations with our members and community, gaining feedback to create a plan, that comes from our members and friends to make a difference, in our community - it is up to all of us.
Just imagine! Rotary in 2030 in Portland - what will it look like??
