President's Message
Carolyn Millard
A wonderful evening with the Rotary tag-a-long group visiting our club full of fun and enthusiasm!
Thank you to Darren for running the Calcutta, and Frank doing the work in the back ground despite poor internet coverage and constant fall outs. With the support of Dayle, Terry and Kym - the night was a great success and enjoyed by our visitors.
World Mental health day (October 8th) -we celebrated on Monday with "Hat day" event to tie in with the Calcutta.
Lift the Lid on Mental illness is Australian Rotary Healths National annual fundraising day for Mental health research and awareness of mental health.
The incidence of suicide is 30 per cent higher in regional and rural areas and twice as high in remote areas. Our Rotary community are the people we meet along the way – while doing good in the world. You may have just made the difference in that persons day that made them think about leaving it.
It was great to have past director of Australian Rotary Health Mark Lane update us on the great work ARH does to improve the health of our communities.
The donation raffle raised over $209 towards our hat day event!
Under the careful planning of Angelo, members of the Tag-a-long tour included - Ian and Heather Yarker, both have Order of Australia Medal for their work in mutiple communities, who spoke passionately about how they manage projects along the way. Ian is past district Govenor and they are all members of the Rotary E-club of Next Gen. Look it up!! They manage some great projects and connect people and towns that would otherwise have no Rotary presence at all.
Reminder about goods for our "Happy hampers", lids/tops for "Lids4kids" and Foreign coins for UNICEF.
