Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all!
Many people are meeting and eating with family and friends for the festive season. The New Year brings with it, positive hope for a better year ahead, and possibilities for doing better.
Indeed "14 ways to celebrate Christmas in Australia" Blog suggests these options:
- Enjoy a family roast
- Experience the lights at Sovereign hill
- Exploring the Perth nightlife
- Enjoy a themed party in Perth
- Meet Santa on Lord Howe Island
- Gone on a cruise from Melbourne
- Visit Wellington square in Perth
- Experience a Boxing day tradition with the Sydney to Hobart Yacht race or Test Cricket
- Walk/drive to see the towns Christmas lights.
- Attend a beach celebration
- Visit Glebe park Canberra festival
- Visit Santas Wonderland in Adelaide
- Attend the Geelong festival of Lights
I have only ticked one thing off the top of this list - How about yourselves?Something for the bucket list maybe??
It is meant to be a happy time. Yet too - not everyone feels this way, at this time of the year. We have many people who are missing family and/or friends and our thoughts are with them, and their families. But it can be stressful for many different reasons - financial pressure, time pressure, family tension, separation, divorce, bereavement and isolation.
Being aware and having some strategies for your feelings at this time, and being considerate of others, can help.
You can speak with your local GP on-call support counselling such as Lifeline (Ph 13 11 14) Beyond Blue (Ph 1300 22 4636)
